Winchester Second-Story Addition
The project
This Winchester family wanted a second floor on their house. Our part was the structure and the outside: we took off the old roof, framed the new second story and closed it in so the house was weathertight, then finished the exterior.
The finished front has a stone-faced gable with an arched window, clapboard siding with white trim, a stone chimney and a covered entry with a copper standing-seam roof. The interior of the new floor was finished by others.

Questions about this project
What did PEGASUS do on this Winchester project?
We took off the old roof, framed the new second story, closed it in and finished the exterior, including the stone veneer and the copper entry roof. The interior of the new floor was finished by others.
What does a tear-off and dry-in mean?
We remove the old roof, frame the new floor and close it in with sheathing, roofing and windows so the house is weathertight before interior work starts.
Can you add a second story to a house in Winchester?
Often, yes. The existing walls and foundation have to carry the new load, so the structure is checked and the framing reviewed before work starts.
