MASTER BATHROOM REMODELS IN MELROSE AND THE Northern Boston suburbs

A primary bathroom designed around how your family actually starts and ends every day, built by a team that treats the details like they matter

The Bathroom You Use Twice a Day, Done Right

A primary bathroom sees more daily use than almost any other room in the house. It has to feel like a retreat and hold up like a workhorse at the same time. Older homes across the Northern Boston suburbs rarely have primary baths that meet either of those standards, which is why primary bath remodels are one of the most common projects PEGASUS Design-To-Build takes on. We design them around the small daily moments, a well-lit double vanity at 6am, a heated floor in a January morning, a walk-in shower with enough room for two people to actually use it, and we build them to outlast the trend cycle.

A good primary bath is a layout problem before it is a tile problem. Where does the shower go so two people can get ready without blocking each other. Where does the light come from in the morning, and where does it come from at night. Where does storage hide so the counter can actually stay clear. Those questions get answered in design, before a single fixture is picked. Every primary bath we build is a full gut renovation. We do not take on cosmetic refreshes, because the level of waterproofing, plumbing, and finish work the room needs only happens when you go back to studs. We lean toward materials and details that hold their look for decades: quiet tile patterns, solid surface counters that do not show wear, plumbing fixtures from manufacturers we have installed for years because we know the parts will still be available in ten. Primary baths are often bundled into a whole-home remodel when a family wants the rest of the house brought up to the same standard.

How Our Design-Build Process Fits a Primary Bath Remodel

Bathrooms look simple until you open the walls. Primary bath remodels almost always involve moving plumbing, sometimes moving walls, and always dealing with waterproofing and ventilation that a general remodel does not require. We handle the complexity through our design-build process. Layout, plumbing, waterproofing strategy, and finish selections are all locked during pre-construction, which means the construction phase is about execution, not decisions.

Your primary bath project runs with a dedicated project manager, daily communication on what is happening on site, and the same trades we have relied on for years. Because every primary bath we build is planned completely before construction, we hit our schedule and our price on these projects consistently.

Common Questions About Master Bathroom Remodels

How long does a primary bathroom remodel take?expand_more
Primary bath timelines depend on tile and fixture selections, whether the layout changes, and the condition of the existing plumbing. Because every primary bath we take on is a full gut renovation, the schedule is set during pre-construction. We confirm the full timeline with you before signing the construction agreement.
How much does a master bathroom remodel cost in Melrose or the Northern Boston suburbs?expand_more
Most primary bathroom remodels we complete range from $55,000 to $75,000. Scope, tile selection, fixture quality, and whether the layout changes are the main drivers. Our Cost Guide breaks down what separates a starter remodel from a higher-end one.
Do I need to gut my bathroom to get the results I want?expand_more
Yes. We only take on full gut renovations across every service we offer, including primary bathrooms. The level of waterproofing, plumbing, electrical, and finish work the room needs only comes together when we strip the room to studs. If you are looking for a cosmetic refresh, we will tell you in the discovery conversation and point you toward someone who specializes in that scope.
Can I stay in my home during a bathroom remodel?expand_more
Most clients stay in the home during a primary bath remodel, especially if there is a second bathroom accessible. We set clear expectations around timeline and access before construction starts.
What does the design phase cover for a bathroom?expand_more
Our design phase includes basic selections and a set of conceptual drawings. The estimate marks the end of the design phase and includes allowances for the finishes we work through with you after you sign on for construction. You walk through samples in our Melrose showroom during pre-construction before anything is finalized. You can read more about how our process works.
Do you offer a warranty?expand_more
Yes. We provide a one-year limited warranty on our labor and materials.

In Our Clients' Words

They did excellent work for us in a redone basement and bathrooms ~4 years ago. Still holding up brilliantly!

Liz Lehtonen

Pegasus did a first floor addition to our home which included a primary bedroom, spacious closet, three piece bathroom, and pantry space. I cannot say enough positive things about working with this company! They made our vision come to life (thanks Jenna!) in a tight space. Start to finish everyone we interacted with was personable, highly skilled, and responsive. The project was completed on budget and quicker than the initial time projection. We lived in the home with two toddlers and a dog during the construction (while also working from home) and it was truly minimally disruptive to our daily routines. We received daily emails on the progress of the work which was so helpful (Mike is the best!). The space is gorgeous and makes me feel like I'm living in a fancy hotel. They are the best contractors I have ever worked with! I would highly recommend them!

Lara Rubinstein

Pegasus was awesome. Their communication was prompt and pleasant, we loved working with them. Our kitchen came together beautifully and they planned a beautiful space for us to live in!! Jenna is both an artist and a genius. We loved her design!

Jenni Somers

We absolutely loved every step of the home renovation process with Pegasus. We had our kitchen redone, and they had great ideas on layout and materials. They were extremely organized and communicative, and every member of their staff that we interacted with was professional and wonderful to work with. And we love our new kitchen. We would gladly seek them out for future work, and highly recommend them.

Paula Kulis

We had an amazing experience with Pegasus. We completed a kitchen remodel and mudroom/master bath/closet addition. They were on time, on budget, and so nice to work with. Every single person on the team was wonderful, and now we're living in our dream home!

Erin Molloy

Pegasus Contracting recently completed a kitchen renovation for me, and from start to finish they were absolutely wonderful to work with. They provided great recommendations and advice at the beginning around all the aspects - design, cabinets, tile, counter, flooring, lighting, appliances. The quality of the work throughout was excellent, their team is very experienced, dedicated, and respectful. I was tremendously grateful for the daily communication from the project manager; what a difference it made when living through a renovation to be kept informed on progress and what was planned for the next day. With highly skilled workers and expert coordination of all the phases of the project, my kitchen was completed exactly on timeline. Wow!

Helen

Working with Pegasus was a great experience. We were very nervous about doing a major renovation due to the bad experiences of other family members we have, but Pegasus guided us through the entire process. Jenna was fantastic working with us on design options and once construction got underway, Mike provided us with daily e-mail updates so we knew exactly what was going on.

No renovation project is going to be totally smooth, but Pegasus takes a lot of stress out of the process. I'd happily recommend them to anyone else seeking to do a home improvement project.
