Kitchen Remodeling in Melrose and the Northern Boston suburbs

A rebuilt kitchen that actually fits the way your family cooks, gathers, and lives, designed and built by one local team

The Kitchen You Actually Use Every Day

A good kitchen remodel has almost nothing to do with the cabinets. It is about whether two people can cook without bumping into each other, whether the coffee setup makes sense at 6am, whether the light is right when the kids are doing homework at the island. We start every kitchen project by understanding how you actually live in the space, and then we design backward from there. Twenty-five years of building kitchens at PEGASUS Design-To-Build has taught us what separates a kitchen that looks good in photos from a kitchen that still feels right in year ten.

Our kitchens are full gut renovations. We do not take on cosmetic refreshes, because the kitchens we build are designed around the moments you are going to have in them. Sunday morning with a full coffee bar and a dog underfoot. A weeknight where one parent is plating dinner while the other is packing lunches for tomorrow. A Thanksgiving where three generations are working at the same counter without anyone feeling crowded. Every kitchen we build goes through a full design phase before we pull a permit, which means cabinetry, counters, tile, lighting, and plumbing are all decided, drawn, and priced before construction begins. When a kitchen project needs additional square footage, we handle that too: see kitchen additions for projects where the footprint itself is expanding.

How Our Design-Build Process Fits a Kitchen Project

Kitchens are the most selection-heavy room in any house, and that is where most kitchen projects fall apart. We handle it by running our design-build process in overlapping phases so decisions build on each other instead of against each other. Our in-house Architectural Designer walks you through conceptual layout options, cabinetry lines, and finish direction in our Melrose showroom during design. After you sign the construction Letter of Intent, the same designer carries you through pre-construction, finalizing every allowance, every fixture, and every tile selection before we break ground.

By the time we sign a construction agreement, every decision that drives price has already been made. Your kitchen is already completely designed, every selection is already confirmed, and you have already walked through samples of every finish. That is how we protect the timeline, the price, and the finished result.

Common Questions About Kitchen Remodeling

How long does a kitchen remodel take?expand_more
Most in-place kitchen remodels take three to four months of construction once we break ground. Projects that include a kitchen addition typically run four to five months. Design and pre-construction add time on the front end and depend on scope, finish selections, and your town's permit process. We confirm the full schedule with you before signing the construction agreement.
How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Melrose or the Northern Boston suburbs?expand_more
Most kitchen remodels we complete range from $70,000 to $155,000 depending on scope, layout changes, and material selections. Note that appliances are not included in our estimates. We install them, but the units themselves are a separate cost. Our Cost Guide breaks down what drives price at each tier so you can calibrate your investment before we meet.
What is the difference between a kitchen remodel and a kitchen addition?expand_more
A remodel works within your existing footprint, updating layout, cabinetry, counters, and finishes. A kitchen addition expands the home itself, typically through a bump-out or full addition, to give you more square footage before the remodel begins. If you are not sure which you need, that is one of the first things we work through together. You can also read more about kitchen additions.
What is included in the design phase?expand_more
Our design phase includes basic selections and a set of conceptual drawings. The estimate marks the end of the design phase and includes allowances. Allowances are placeholder numbers for the finishes we work through with you after you sign on for construction. You can read more about how our process works.
Do you offer a warranty on kitchen remodels?expand_more
Yes. We provide a one-year limited warranty on our labor and materials.

Our Design-Build Process

1 | Discover

Every project starts with a conversation. We come alongside you to understand your vision, your home, and your investment range, then align on scope and priorities before any drawings begin.

2 | Design
Our in-house Architectural Designer turns your goals into conceptual drawings and a budgetary estimate built on allowances. After you sign the construction Letter of Intent, the same designer carries you through pre-construction, where we finalize every selection, bring in engineering for stamped drawings, and lock down a firm construction price.
3 | Deliver
Once the design is approved, our project manager and craftsmen take your plans from concept to completion with daily communication and detailed scheduling. The result is a home finished to the standard you agreed to, on time and on budget.

In Our Clients' Words

They did excellent work for us in a redone basement and bathrooms ~4 years ago. Still holding up brilliantly!

Liz Lehtonen

Pegasus did a first floor addition to our home which included a primary bedroom, spacious closet, three piece bathroom, and pantry space. I cannot say enough positive things about working with this company! They made our vision come to life (thanks Jenna!) in a tight space. Start to finish everyone we interacted with was personable, highly skilled, and responsive. The project was completed on budget and quicker than the initial time projection. We lived in the home with two toddlers and a dog during the construction (while also working from home) and it was truly minimally disruptive to our daily routines. We received daily emails on the progress of the work which was so helpful (Mike is the best!). The space is gorgeous and makes me feel like I'm living in a fancy hotel. They are the best contractors I have ever worked with! I would highly recommend them!

Lara Rubinstein

Pegasus was awesome. Their communication was prompt and pleasant, we loved working with them. Our kitchen came together beautifully and they planned a beautiful space for us to live in!! Jenna is both an artist and a genius. We loved her design!

Jenni Somers

We absolutely loved every step of the home renovation process with Pegasus. We had our kitchen redone, and they had great ideas on layout and materials. They were extremely organized and communicative, and every member of their staff that we interacted with was professional and wonderful to work with. And we love our new kitchen. We would gladly seek them out for future work, and highly recommend them.

Paula Kulis

We had an amazing experience with Pegasus. We completed a kitchen remodel and mudroom/master bath/closet addition. They were on time, on budget, and so nice to work with. Every single person on the team was wonderful, and now we're living in our dream home!

Erin Molloy

Pegasus Contracting recently completed a kitchen renovation for me, and from start to finish they were absolutely wonderful to work with. They provided great recommendations and advice at the beginning around all the aspects - design, cabinets, tile, counter, flooring, lighting, appliances. The quality of the work throughout was excellent, their team is very experienced, dedicated, and respectful. I was tremendously grateful for the daily communication from the project manager; what a difference it made when living through a renovation to be kept informed on progress and what was planned for the next day. With highly skilled workers and expert coordination of all the phases of the project, my kitchen was completed exactly on timeline. Wow!

Helen

Working with Pegasus was a great experience. We were very nervous about doing a major renovation due to the bad experiences of other family members we have, but Pegasus guided us through the entire process. Jenna was fantastic working with us on design options and once construction got underway, Mike provided us with daily e-mail updates so we knew exactly what was going on.

No renovation project is going to be totally smooth, but Pegasus takes a lot of stress out of the process. I'd happily recommend them to anyone else seeking to do a home improvement project.
